Gerrit learns cloud native security

August 18, 2026

Gerrit Tamboer, our Chief Evangelist, once called himself the LeBron James of vibe coding. Then his colleagues hacked his demo. In under twenty minutes. Turns out, twenty years of cloud-native expertise doesn't automatically mean you know how attackers think.

So Gerrit called his friend Marcel Claassen from Sysdig and asked him to fix that. Publicly.

The result is Gerrit Learns Cloud Native Security, a video series by Sysdig and TrueFullstaq, now live in three parts:

  • Cloud native under attack: Gerrit's runtime reality check
Why Kubernetes is such an attractive target, where platform teams lose visibility, and why prevention alone leaves gaps.
  • Gerrit watches a Kubernetes attack happen
Marcel walks through a real attack chain from initial foothold to persistent compromise, while Gerrit watches, asks questions, and looks genuinely unsettled.
  • Gerrit builds a Kubernetes defense plan
After watching the attack unfold, Gerrit and Marcel build the response together. Practical, pressure-tested, no boiling the ocean.

And the finale isn't another video. Gerrit sits his exam live, on stage, in front of a full room, at Edgecase, our annual Kubernetes event, taking place on 24 September 2026 at Gooiland in Hilversum. Marcel puts him through it in the Cloud Native Security Track: threat recognition, attack chains, defense, with the audience playing along.
