TrueFullstaq partners with OpenNebula Systems to accelerate sovereign cloud adoption

Europe is redefining what digital sovereignty means for cloud and AI infrastructure. The forthcoming EU Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) is expected to play an important role in shaping Europe’s approach to sovereign and resilient cloud infrastructure.

In the debate around CADA, European cloud providers have argued that sovereignty cannot be reduced to where data is hosted or whether the provider has a European presence. It must ultimately be about control. Organizations need to retain control over the technology, and infrastructure that support their data, applications and workloads.

This is where OpenNebula and TrueFullstaq come together. OpenNebula provides a European controlled, fully open source and vendor-neutral cloud platform. TrueFullstaq brings the engineering and implementation expertise needed to turn that platform into production ready infrastructure. Its expertise includes cloud native technologies, Kubernetes and managed services.  

Together, the two companies help organizations translate the principles of digital sovereignty into infrastructure they can operate and control.

From customer to partner

Before becoming an official OpenNebula partner, TrueFullstaq first became an OpenNebula customer.

Back in 2023, TrueFullstaq was looking for a modern alternative to traditional virtualization platforms. The changing virtualization market, including Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, reinforced the need for an open and flexible alternative.  We wanted a solution that aligned with our vision of open, cloud-native infrastructure. It needed to be open source, enterprise ready and designed for automation. 

We also needed enterprise support and a platform with a clear and manageable architecture. At the same time, it had to provide the capabilities we expected from a modern virtualization platform, including failover, multi-tenancy, and support for edge workloads.

We found that combination in OpenNebula. After successfully implementing the platform in our own infrastructure, becoming an official partner was a natural next step.

Partner collaboration

The partnership also includes ongoing collaboration between TrueFullstaq and OpenNebula to address customer requirements and develop solutions around emerging infrastructure needs.

The teams are exploring integrations across areas including data protection, storage performance and Kubernetes. They are also working together on technical enablement and knowledge sharing supporting the adoption of sovereign cloud technologies.
